Join us for a special literary panel moderated by author Nina Wachsman, featuring three acclaimed writers whose works illuminate the lives of Jewish women across centuries. Through historical suspense, memoir, and short fiction, the discussion presents unforgettable stories of Jewish women navigating the tension between Jewish identity and the secular world. Spanning the Golden Age of Venice, the aftermath of the Holocaust, and the Golden Age of American Jewish life, these powerful narratives explore resilience, courage, belonging, and survival across generations.
Nina Wachsman will discuss her acclaimed Venice Beauties Mysteries, inspired by the remarkable Jewish women of 17th-century Venice. Michelle Freidman will share insights from her memoir Divine Corners, a moving account of growing up as the daughter of Holocaust survivors on a Catskills chicken farm. Shira Dicker will explore her short story collection Lolita at Leonard's of Great Neck and Other Stories From the Before Times, examining the complexities of Jewish womanhood across generations. Together, these authors offer a compelling conversation about history, memory, and the enduring power of women's voices.

Julie Salamon, New York Times best-selling author and journalist, sits down with author and psychiatrist Michelle Friedman to discuss her career and recent book Divine Corners. Michelle Friedman is a psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, and teacher whose life and work explore the art of listening and the resilience of the human spirit. Raised on a chicken farm in the Catskills by Holocaust survivor parents, she became a healer devoted to helping others find meaning and repair. In her recent memoir, Divine Corners, Michelle weaves together hair-raising stories of her parents’ wartime survival with vivid memories of life on the farm. Her unflinching yet loving inquiry explores Jewish identity, resilience, and what makes one person break while another survives.
